The Power Plate machine vibrates, or moves, in three different directions. These tiny movements put the body out of balance. To correct this imbalance, the muscles unconsciously make very rapid reflex contractions. Therefore, the muscles are almost continuously contracted. As training on a Power Plate machine is so extremely effective, the time spent exercising can be reduced. However, make no mistake – it is still hard work.

This very much depends on the purpose of your training and your individual fitness, so we recommend that you consult a certified Power Plate trainer or take a certified Power Plate training course. A general guideline is that you should leave approximately 48 hours between exercise sessions where you are training the same muscle group. If you alternate between training different muscle groups on different days, you should be able to train every day on the Power Plate machine, just as with traditional resistance training. We do not recommend that you repeat the exact same strength training program every day; however massage and relaxation exercises can be done on a more regular basis.

No, but it is likely to feel very uncomfortable. You should follow our training guidelines, to help reduce the chance of vibrations traveling directly to the head, and to improve your results. When performing static exercises, for example, holding a squat position, on the vibrating platform, you should never simply stand upright with your legs straight and knees locked. You should always keep your knees slightly bent, whether you are performing a static or dynamic exercise, as you will achieve the best possible results if your muscles are under pre-tension.

If your doctor or medical specialist has given you clearance to perform strength and cardiovascular training, or sport activities that absort shock, such as skiing, horseback riding or biking, then you should be a good candidate for using the Power Plate machine. However, we always recommend that you check with your doctor or medical specialist first, though, because this person knows you and your medical history best. If your pacemaker is in your chest, we recommend that you perform exercises such as front planks and push ups around the other way, placing your hands and upper body on the floor, with your legs on the platform. If your pacemaker is in your abdomen, it should not be necessary to make any modifications to the usual recommended exercises.

The AIRdaptive settings allow the machine to deliver the optimum vibrations, for each user, dependent on their weight. Setting 1 is for those up to 130lbs/60gs, Setting 2 is for those between 130lbs/60kgs and 200lbs/90kgs, and Setting 3 is for those over 200lbs/90kgs, up to a maximum of 500lbs/227kgs.

Yes, we recommend you switch your machine off at the wall (if cleaning the anti-skid surface), and then spray warm water on to the surface. You can use a soft bristle brush, such as a back brush, to loosen any dirt. Then use an absorbent towel, such as a chamois, to blot dry the anti-skid surface, or wipe dry the mat(s). Please wait for the surfaces to air dry completely before next usage, to prevent any potential for injury from slipping.
